Old Speaker
My father's old speaker. He left these in the apartment after he left to live in a different state. Just the typical speaker, about 10 years old. Remember being quite proud of these speakers when I would have a get together. My cat Lucy's favorite scratching post to this day!
Rising Mind
The dung beetle pushes the sun across the sky at dawn. This is meant to represent a waking of the mind, rising to new and greater purposes. It os a renewal of the world within, a new day for the spirit.

This was hand sketched in pencil, then scanned, edited for color/texture, and digitally painted.
Floating Wisdom
A serpent behind a winged sun. I made this to capture the wisdom-giving of the snake in the flight of the sun. A symbol I put together to represent being mindful of life and what came before and what comes next. I postured the serpent to evoke a sense of the infinite and a continuous recreation. I keep the message of knowledge gained in a more positive light as it is emblazoned with the sun to represent life, lightness of heart, and the journey of creation.

This one was drawn in pencil and then digitally painted. I wonder what are the thoughts of all you out there on the color choice? I am sure there could have been a better choice, but what?
Lucy Resting, painted
This is the drawing of Lucy digitally painted. Just painted using the Sketchbook app on my phone after taking a snapshot of my real-life sketch book. Made the work day so much more entertaining!

Do you think a portrait is better done in pencil or digital pencil? Assuming you are ok with pencil sketched portraits! I just find that lately drawing digitally has become so much easier and convenient.
Lucy Resting

This is a sketch of my little girl, Lucy Hernandez. She was sleeping on the dining table where I do most of my work. I have since digitally paintrd this drawing and really liked how it turned out. May post that image later on tonight.

This is my first deviance, so it had to honor my tiny little Luce!

I prefer to draw with a pencil in hand but have recently delved into the world of digital art. Growing up I despised coloring my drawings. I always felt my opinion on colors never reflected that of everyone else. You can see in my art that colors are typically not very complex, but if you were to see what I wear you would know I love colorful things!

Lately I have taken to digitally painting my drawings. It has been a bumpy road figuring out a program like Illustrator and simply composing the work digitally in general. Expect to see simple drawings in the vain of totemic, symbolic icons, play on archetypes, and evoking lore and superstition.

I also love to draw my cat, Lucy.

Born and raised in East Harlem, NYC (El Barrio! Wepa!)... Still live in the same apartment! (I need a change, badly!) The coqui still sings in East Harlem, and the trees still whisper stories about home.
